Xena was picked up as a stray, unfortunatly she became ill and sent to the vets. It was found that she had swallowed things she should'nt have. After being x-rayed the vet thought she had staples and a plastic bag in her stomach. She keeps being sick and the wanted to operate, but the pound will not pay for her operation and she was due to be pts 17/12/11

However, ARW have agreed to take her in to kennels/foster if she has her medical bill payed. The lovely people on Doglost have started a Xena fund, to help towards the cost of her op, if anyone would like to dontate here are the details

If there is anyone who like to offer a foster/permanent home, she does need to be the only dog and no young children, as we have no history for her.

They did an endiscope down her throat to see if the could remove offending objects in her stomach, they could not find anything, so decided to operate. There where a few rotten food etc and cleaned it all out, they checked her bowels and all is well there, the vet thought there was a possiblity of a tumour in her bowels or stomach which was blocking food going in to/out of her stomach. They also speyed her whilst they where there and all was well at that end as well. She had a mammary lump removed and are waiting the results of the biopsy, which the result should be back next week.
Xena can go out to foster care Friday 23 Dec, but will have to stay a few more days if she is to go in to kennels. The vet has discribed her temperament as " Xena is no angel, but has settled down a bit these past few days. She is anxious and would benefit being in foster rather than kennels. If she has to have anything done by the vet or nurses, it is best to muzzle her as she is very wary when you go to her back end. She is happy to have her head patted/scratched and ok with being petted on her shoulders and front legs."
ARW would also recommend she goes to a dog/children free foster/home and near St.Albans where she can go back to the vets for stitches removed and checks up without traveling long distances.

Xena was picked up as a stray, and was coaxed out from under a car after two days. Unfortunatly she became ill and sent to the vets. It was found that she had eaten things she should'nt have. After being x-rayed the vet thought she had staples and a plastic bag in her stomach. She kept being sick and they wanted to operate, but the pound will not pay for her operation and she was due to be pts 17/12/11

did the operation at cost and spayed her as well.

Xena is now feeling better and is in kennels where the staff adore her. Xena needs a home with older children, no cats and can live with a large dog if introduced correctly. Xena LOVES a CUDDLE.
