Kaito is a very lonely Akita as he is living in a coal shed and longs for walks and company. Kaito is used to children, can not live with cats and is said to be reasonably dog friendly. Owners feel that they can not give him the time he deserves. He was very pleased to see our assessor and gave her lots of kisses and cuddles. Dingo is in foster care with ARW through no fault of his own.

 Dingo is a lovely, lively lad, fine with me walking him, in as a complete stranger, inquisitive and came straight over for a fuss. Happy to 'sit', 'down'.

Seems very trainable, eager to please.

When he is out being walked he pulls a lot, the canny hopefully will help

Dingo does live with a Westie at this time, and gets on well with him, though can be quiet playfull with him.

He has not been used to children or cats.

XENA is feeling much better

Xena was picked up as a stray, and was coaxed out from under a car after two days. Unfortunatly she became ill and sent to the vets. It was found that she had eaten things she should'nt have. After being x-rayed the vet thought she had staples and a plastic bag in her stomach. She kept being sick and they wanted to operate, but the pound will not pay for her operation and she was due to be pts 17/12/11

However, ARW have agreed to take her in to kennels/foster if she has her medical bill payed. The lovely people on Doglost have started a Xena fund, to help towards the cost of her op. Woodstreet Vets

did the operation at cost and spayed her as well.

Fish4Dogs have kindly sponsored Xena with food and goodies for 6 months.

Xena is now feeling better and is in kennels where the staff adore her. Xena needs a home with older children, no cats and can live with a large dog if introduced correctly. Xena LOVES a CUDDLE.

Myha is looking for a new home after coming into rescue with Shadow (579) when their owner died suddenly.

She is a boisterous girl and although she gets on with Shadow, she is not dog friendly when it comes to meeting new dogs. Myha loves human company and requires training as she is strong on a lead. She has not had much exercise. Myha travels well in a car. Myha can live with children over 7 yearss old. Will not be placed with cats or other dogs but would be re homed with Shadow if someone wants the pair!

Mya has a lovely temperament. Can be placed with large male dog, careful introductions essential. Can be placed with young kids but not with cats. Very strong on a lead and will require training and a head collar, eg. halti.

Mya has a very strong prey drive and will escape from flimsy fencing in chase of squirrels and foxes. Stranger friendly, no food guarding issues. Separation anxiety only when not with another dog. Not spayed but inoculations are up to date.

If there is anyone who like to offer a foster/permanent home, she does need to be the only dog and no young children, as we have no history for her.

They did an endiscope down her throat to see if the could remove offending objects in her stomach, they could not find anything, so decided to operate. There where a few rotten food etc and cleaned it all out, they checked her bowels and all is well there, the vet thought there was a possiblity of a tumour in her bowels or stomach which was blocking food going in to/out of her stomach. They also speyed her whilst they where there and all was well at that end as well. She had a mammary lump removed and are waiting the results of the biopsy, which the result should be back next week.
Xena can go out to foster care Friday 23 Dec, but will have to stay a few more days if she is to go in to kennels. The vet has discribed her temperament as " Xena is no angel, but has settled down a bit these past few days. She is anxious and would benefit being in foster rather than kennels. If she has to have anything done by the vet or nurses, it is best to muzzle her as she is very wary when you go to her back end. She is happy to have her head patted/scratched and ok with being petted on her shoulders and front legs."
ARW would also recommend she goes to a dog/children free foster/home and near St.Albans where she can go back to the vets for stitches removed and checks up without traveling long distances.

Khai is a lovely Akita. She is confined to a crate all of the time when in doors because her owners mother is house proud.Her current owner is moving and can not take her with him. Khai has her inoculations and is due to be spayed in January. She is friendly but takes a few minutes to get used to new people. Khai will not be re homed with other dogs or cats. Khai will be suited to a family with children aged 10 or older.

Beautiful looking girl with a lovely nature.

CJ is a large boy and can get quite boisterous at times. He will need further training from new owner and plenty of exercise.

He is being re-homed due to a change in his owners work commitments, leaving him alone for long periods and she does not feel he is receiving the attention he deserves.

He`s an excitable boy, loves to play and has basic command knowledge. He will pull to begin with on walks but soon settles and calms down.

Luxating patella which has been been operated on and now fixed and no problems.

Kai can be wary of people when out at night in the dark, but is great with people in the home and during the day when out. He will sit for a treat, and is very playfull.
