Ah, from last year's BVA stats? here: www.bva.co.uk/public/documents/Breed_Specific_Statistics.pdf

Looks like it's the scores for those that have been submitted through the UK scheme (irrespective of where they live).

That's an interesting topic Chris...an eye opener, as I thought that large breeds would all have problems with hips, especially in later life....I had a Pyraneese Mountain Dog & I thought I was lucky that he had no hip problems...wish I had known this when I had him, as I never over walked him, because I thought I would damage his hips!....good to know...thanks for the research Chris....Pam Maya & Scoobie

Blades dad had a high hip score,24 or 28 i believe yet Blade has no problems with his hips [touch wood] so am not sure really how much the hip score relates....like has been said only a small amout is genetic...allthough i would go with a lower hip score dog than one with a higher hip score if i was choosing a puppy.
