TOPIC: Wonky Tail

Wonky Tail 16 Jan 2013 19:39 #7928

Hi guys
Wonder if any of you could give me some advice?...
Our Akita, Mika (not taken after the pop singer ) she's 9 months old now and as she is getting older he tale seems to be uncurling. When she is standing to attention it is curled but when she is relaxed (and stood up) it uncurls. Is this normal?

Id really appreciate some feedback as I cant trawled through google!
Thanks x

Hi Charlotte,
Yes it's quiet normal, my boy used to curl his tail all the time, but when he is in relaxed mode it does uncurl, he 101/2yrs now though.
He could just be a lazy boy and sees no need to curl it when he is relaxed.

Thank you Denise!
Its definately put our minds at rest!
Hmm, she isnt "lazy" as such, I think just very laidback, but I suppose you have to be laid back when you have a "tail obsessed Kitten" chasing you around the house!

If they are unsure about things or worried or anxious it will also .uncurl. is it curled when she's moving? Some akitas have more curl in the tail than others, its not a problem either way.

My old benny never had a curled tail but Asia has a lovely tail that rests on her back, i's not alway there though, it often goes straight and down
