We seem to have conquered lots of Nala’s fears and she’s very happy. The extended lead (5 meters) along with the click-and-reward system has made a huge difference. She now has her sense of freedom, she returns to us when called and runs around like a racehorse – so most of the time she’s too tired to be naughty. All I need do now is get her more socialised with other dogs.

And, no offence to anyone named Alan out there (Nala being Alan backwards) we have officially changed Nala’s name to Nellie – she seems to like it, so we’re definitely not complaining!

Thanks to everyone who sent useful tips recently your support was most welcome.

I'm so glad to hear Nelly is doing well, by the way I love the mane Nelly, my first little cross breed was named Nelly, she was a very special little girl

I got my asia used to other dogs very slowley and at a distance, I got her to sit everytime we saw another dog approaching or passing, then I gave her a treat when she calmed down eventually she learned that being a good girl meant cheesy treats and barking and throwning herself around like a nutter got her nothing now she's a very, very good girl with other dogs unless they're yappy little terriors hanging off her neck
