Hi
Anouk has anal gland issues. I now feed her Burns dry food with a half tin of chappie. The chappie is rubbish but it makes the boo more chalky and easier for her to pass. If she pays her bum too much attention, I give her a few raw drumsticks and this chalks up the poo enough to empty the glands. The smell coming from problematic anal glands is rather distinct, a bit like fish. I hope she gets well soon. It must be rather painful.

Hiya Stephanie

Her glands have been checked again and are empty and her stools are good. She has had diarrhoea last night and this morn though!! She does have that fishy smell about her. Its very possibly left over from 3-4 weeks ago though when she DID have full glands plus she was in season. Will give her a bath i think and see if the smell keeps coming back.

The liquid is most definitely not anal gland fluid. Its completely clear. Im wondering now if she has had a bit of a bug thats stuck in her system. Max was poorly with Diarrhoea just before this problem started. She has also had bad breath for the last couple of weeks. They say thats a sign of poorly tummys if their teeth are good don't they ??

Could it be a bit of discharge after her season?? with it being clear it is not infection, but could just be a little leakage ??

You could start her on pulsatilla 6x 0r 30c potency, which will clear out after her season, clean out any residual urinary tract infection.

You could also put her on sulphur 200x, 3 times daily, for 10 days, then a single dose of 30x daily for the rest of her life at 4 month intervals, this will help keep her glands healthy, good for skin and coat, also deters biting insects and parasites.

Possible i suppose but the leakage is definitely coming from the anus and not her womans bits

Iv booked her an appointment for 3.50 at our local vets where Zeus was done. It will make be feel better if nothing else. My other vet is fab but he knows im a worrier. Iv been there so often lately that I feel like he's decided nothing is wrong before i walk through the door. Never charges me for the privilage though so thats one good thing.

Something just doesn't feel right with Ooka. You know when you have a gut feeling. Hope im wrong
