What exactly do they mean by mild HD? Is there arthritis present? That is the usual cause of lameness as a high hip score (measure of HD) doesn't always cause lameness. HD is a statement of the quality of the joint formation and laxity of the joint. Not really a degenerative thing.

Inja had a partial rupture, but the prognosisfor dogs over 10kg is much better with surgery. Also arthritic changes set in much more quickly once they are lame. Usually its only small dogs who are treated conservatively as they can manage much better on 3 legs.

You may want to ask the vet for more details ...

The vet said there is a bit of arthritis, I think the lameness is more to do with the ligament damage, she also said that her "good" leg is very healthy and right now can take some extra pressure caused by her lameness
