Niko is almost 4 yrs old and just recovered form a bout of gastroenteritis which occurred about 4 weeks ago. He has been off his food ever since despite us offering various foods. He tries them for a day or so and then stops eating again. We have had him back at the vet for a check up and nothing untoward was found. We have tried restricting food unless at teatime or breakfast, we have tried leaving food available all day. he has had nothing substantial for 4 days now. He does seem well in himself, still going for walks, still playing with his toys and excited greetings when we return or we have guests. we don't know whether he is he just being stubborn or something underlying may be occurring. Any advice would be gratefully received,

thank you.

Hello and welcome Sorry to hear Niko is having problems, sometimes after a bad bout of tummy problems like your Niko has experienced, they can begin to associate food with feeling sick. I had the same problem with a past dog named Tod, my vet suggested allowing him to greed while I was cooking a meal and giving him tit bits while I was cooking, this was to get his taste buds going again, it worked a treat after hiis greeding fest I gave him a small meal of his own food and he ate it all, the next day he was back to normal eating Niko may be picking up on your anxiaty, so give him treats and make it fun, then when he's taking the treats "normal" try him on a small amount of his own dinner fingers crossed he'll be okay

Please get back to us if he is still off his food
