Hi, I have just joined this forum having completed an application form to adopt an Akita. We very sadly lost our old bear of a dog, Sid (he's my profile picture) in February and vowed never to have another dog. Two months down the line we have such a huge hole in our lives we have all agreed to look for another.

Thanks Kirsty - we are waiting to be approved for a new dog at the moment. Sid died in February but we still keep finding clumps of his hair drifting out from under the furniture - it's like he's still here!

Hi
Welcome to the forum, so sorry to hear of your loss. They do leave a huge gap don't they? We lost our dog and vowed never to have another, too much pain to bear when they go, 2 months later we got our first rescue Akita , that was a year ago, and now have just adopted an Akita puppy. Our family feels complete again.
Fingers crossed you soon have another bear to help heal your hearts.

Funny isn't it how you lose your identity when they are no longer with you - no one stares or points as you are walking along the road!
