Hi Everyone,I took Ben out for a short walk this morning before work and in the small local park at the back of my house he was attacked by a south African Borbeil which one of my neighbours had let out off lead but wearing a muzzle as soon as he saw Ben he went for him the dog managed to somehow get its muzzle off and tore into ben although ben gave as good as he got I do not want anything like this happening as he is very good with other dogs and people thankfully ben and the other dog are ok but in the melee I ended up getting pretty badly bitten on my hand I had the top of my index finger nearly bitten off my index finger is broken I have bites to other fingers and a nasty one to the back of my hand and I have spent the day in surgery having the damage repaired although I may still have to have the top of my finger removed later if it does not heal to say I am alttle fed up is an understatement! Bill,Zak & Ben.

Oh Bill, that's terrible!!! the dog owner is defiantly in the wrong! I mean if he dog was muzzled what on earth was it doing off lead! the new dangerous dog act would have somthing to say about that! I'm glad Ben is okay but you sound in the wars Please let us know how your wounds heal Bill

Hi I have done a bit of digging regarding this and it has happened before although not to this extent the hospital wanted to inform the police but I said no know I am not so sure if I did the right thing I can understand the predicament he is in as its similar to when I had Zak but I would never let him off the lead because I knew what would happen, thankfully Ben is still his bubbly playful self I was worried it might have changed him like it did Zak when he got attacked but all seems good it looks like I will be off work for at least another 2 weeks as I cant have the stiches out until then and its a right nuisance going all the way kent where I live to st Thomas hospital every other day to have the dressings changed plus I am going to be out of pocket to the tune of £100 per week from work at the moment and Ben is not able to go on his daily adventures out and about as I cant drive! Bill,Zak & Ben.

Well I'm glad Ben is still his happy playful slef, that's the main thing for Ben. I spose not informing the police is giving him one more cahnce and hopefully the dog owner realises what a lucky excape he's had and he keeps his dog on lead from now on, I don't think I could do the Police complaint thing either, I would feel so bad if the dog had to be put down You can only do what feels right at the time Bill and not informing the police is what felt right for you Let's hope your injuries heal soon and everything gets back to normal for you and Ben

I have only just seen this Bill.

What an awful time you have had. Your neighbour really ought to know better than to let a dog who is aggressive to other dogs off its lead in public. Not a very clever act at all

Im glad Ben is ok and not too shaken up by the incident. I hope your hand is on the mend and you are not too shaken up either.

Please let us know how you are getting on
If your dog doesn't like someone, then you probably shouldn't either !

Hi Teresa my hand is not too bad hope to have some of the stitches out weds but it looks like I wont be going back to work for a couple more weeks I am all for having time off but its getting a bit boring now! Ben is ok thankfully it hasn't affected him in the slightest he is still very sociable with other dogs and this means he is getting a bit more exercise while I am off will keep you all updated Bill,Zak and Ben.
