Hello, I'm Julie and I'm very new to all this 'forum stuff' so pls forgive me if I do something wrong. Very recently I lost my darling corgi of 13 years and whilst I feel as though my heart has been torn from my chest, it is giving me a chance to fulfil an extremely long standing wish - to be the very proud adopter of a fabulously regal Akita. It was just yesterday when I completed the adoption form, having made a hopeful selection of 8 desperately needy beauties and I wondered if anyone could give me a rough idea as to how long it might be before I hear back about the inspection. I know that I need to be patient, and I will be, but I am so lonely without my 'Hello' greeting when I get home and my hand still goes down to the side of my chair for that special tickle behind the ears. Thank you for listening. Julie

Hi Julie, sorry to hear you lost your beloved bear, we all know what it's like to lose them & how empty the house & your life is when they depart to the Rainbow Bridge. I'm so glad you have decided to adopt one of our In Need of a Home Akita Bears. I don't know what area you are in & can't give you any information on who is going to do the checks, but hopefully it will be very soon. I adopted my Maya about 5 years ago now ( I fostered for AR&W too ) well she was over 2 when I got her & she's just had her 8th birthday. Please keep in touch with us when you do finally have your Akita Bear, we're here to help with advice, share photos & chat all about our bears. Look forward to hearing from you soon

Thank you ever so much manita0788. I am in Aldershot in Hampshire and am heartened at the thought that I will, hopefully, be tickling behind different ears very soon.

So sorry to hear your sad news Julie. 13 years is a long time to be together with your dear corgi:( we all know that feeling of emptyness when we lose our devoted furry friends, but I know that once you're new adopted akita friend comes to stay the feeling of loss will be relieved .

It can take a little time to get all the adoption stuff sorted, but it's all to make sure you and your new akita are well suited and will be happy together there's a few forms to fill in and checks to do, but once that lot's sorted it doesn't take long for your chosen akita to come and stay I now that gap of being without a companion dog can feel like it's lasting forever, but it really is worth the effort of wait to make sure you and your new friend will work out and be a lasting relationship just like manita and maya and me and my Asia

If you need to "talk" please don't hesitate to post here on the forum.

Thank you so much bensonsmum. As each day passes, I feel a little better but the sadness comes over me in waves.

With regards to the adoption, things are moving really quickly now. I had my Home Check yesterday and passed with flying colours so I am thrilled to be a step nearer to those ears. I have a leaning towards either Tia or Leo but quite honestly, I will be honoured and very proud to take any of them.

The Trust are being absolutely wonderful and I cannot thank them - and all on the forum - enough for helping my invalid mum and myself to get over our loss.

I can't wait to put photos of my new 'baby' on this site and share my joy.

Thank you again and I will be back soon.
