Schubert is an estimated 3 to 4 year old male. Found wandering on train tracks and then unclaimed as a stray. We are advertising him on behalf of another rescue to find the perfect home for him.
He is calm in his kennel environment, not destructive, and is content playing with his toys. His personality can be quite independent at times, but he will also show interest in what is going on around him and will engage with the team.
He can get quite giddy in play, someone with breed experience would need to enforce firm but fair rules and boundaries, he’s a clever boy, he soon learns.
Schubert is currently fed a grain-free diet, which suits him well and his new owners would need to ensure this continues.
When out of his kennel, Schubert enjoys his walks and walks well on the lead.
He toilets while out walking, although a refresher on house training may be needed in a home environment.
He knows some basic commands, including “sit” and “paw.”
Schubert has not been cat tested so we can’t be sure that he would accept any feline companions, so we would advise a home with no cats.
He has shown little interest in other dogs passing his kennel, however he has not been dog tested, as reactions can vary between individual dogs.
If a potential adopter already has a calm, spayed female(medium to large sized) dog, a controlled meet at the kennels would be required.
Dog savvy children aged 12+ due to his size and bouncy nature.
Schubert is looking for a calm, knowledgeable home that understands the Akita breed and can offer him stability, routine, and patience.
If you can offer Schubert the forever home he needs, we’d love to hear from you!
