Negrita – Available for Adoption
Beautiful Negrita is a friendly, playful two year old girl who is ready to find her forever home. Due to her owners having to leave the country.
From the moment she met our assessor, she was keen to say hello, approaching happily and inviting play within seconds. She loves fuss and attention, can be excitable at first, but settles down nicely once she has had a moment to greet you.
She takes treats gently and already knows several commands including sit, down, go, and come here.
Like many Akitas, she can occasionally have selective hearing, but she shows great potential for further training in a committed home.
She walks well overall, though she can pull slightly at times, so some consistent lead training will help her continue to improve. She is curious and enjoys taking in her surroundings on walks.
She is confident and unaffected by traffic or general noise, with the vacuum cleaner being her only known dislike, the sight of it sends her off to hide in the corner.
During her assessment she did not bark or show any aggression. When she spotted a squirrel on the walk, she watched it with interest but did not attempt to chase while on lead. As with any dog, this could differ in a garden.
Negrita is a healthy, well-groomed girl with a lovely clean coat. She adores being handled and even enjoys bath time and showers.
Out and about, she is sensible and seems to read situations well. If strangers do not engage with her, she will simply walk past, but she is more than happy to receive attention from those who wish to say hello. Neighbours love her gentle nature and she has enjoyed playing with children.
She can happily be left alone when needed and does not show signs of separation anxiety.
Negrita could live with dog savvy children aged 6+.
Due to her size and breed traits, we are looking for a home with large breed experience.
She could potentially live with a patient, friendly, neutered male dog of a similar size, subject to careful introductions.
She has not been assessed with cats and we couldn’t guarantee what she would be like with resident felines, therefore we are seeking a cat free home.
Negrita is a gentle, affectionate girl with so much potential. In the right home, with continued guidance and commitment, she will make a truly wonderful companion.
