This is Keiko. Still just 7 months old, and still very much a baby.
Following a serious incident in her previous home, we were contacted and knew we had to act quickly. Thankfully, a kennel space became available just in time.
When she first arrived, she was a frightened little soul who had already experienced far more than any puppy ever should. Confused, overwhelmed, and unsure of everything around her, she struggled to cope with a world that felt far too big and far too loud.
Kennel life was incredibly difficult for her. The noise, the movement, the constant activity, it was all too much for such a sensitive young girl. But step by step, with patience, kindness, and the quiet dedication of our kennel team and volunteers, something incredible is beginning to happen.
Keiko is starting to trust…
Little moments at first. Then bigger ones. The first acceptance of reassurance. The first willingness to engage. Then the courage to take a lead, to follow, and finally to step outside and begin exploring the world around her.
Today, Keiko is no longer the same shut down, fearful puppy who arrived in our care. She is still sensitive, still needs understanding, but she is learning. Growing. Healing.
And it is absolutely beautiful to witness…
This progress has only been possible because of a softly, softly approach, consistency, and people who refused to rush her before she was ready. Keiko is proof of what patience can achieve.
Now, she is ready for the next step in her journey.
We are urgently looking for either a foster or a forever home for Keiko.
A calm, stable environment where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. A home where she will never be pushed, only supported. A home where she can finally feel safe enough to just be a dog.
🏡 Keiko’s ideal home:
🐾 Adult only household or teenagers aged 16 plus
🐾 No other pets
🐾 Breed experienced home preferred
🐾 Someone around most of the day, she will struggle with long periods alone
🐾 Quiet home environment, not suitable for flats or busy areas
🐾 Secure garden with strong 6ft fencing
These requirements are essential for her well being and are not negotiable. What Keiko needs is not perfection, but understanding.
Someone with patience in their heart. Someone who understands that trust is earned, not demanded. Someone willing to continue the journey she has only just begun.
From a terrified arrival to a dog now beginning to see the world differently, Keiko has already come so far. Now she just needs someone to help her go the rest of the way.
If you think you could offer Keiko the calm, caring foster or forever home she deserves, please get in touch.
