This is what you have been waiting for folks!
ARW were alerted to a male Akita that had been abandoned in Nottingham during a “give away hand over” that went terribly wrong.
Rocky was very fearful and sought refuge in a school playground. Concerned members of the public tried to catch Rocky but he was fearful and a master at avoiding capture. A team eventually set a trap as school was about to restart after the holidays. Rocky was captured and ARW offered him space via Nottingham City Council Dog Control. Rocky was signed over to ARW’s care.
Aiste and Chris, both long term ARW supporters had met ARW at a dog show in Essex back in August 2016. On 5th October 2016, Aiste and Chris adopted Hermione from ARW and named her Kira. Kira lived a life full of adventure and love. Kira featured in the ARW calendar over the years. She passed away with age related illness at the grand age of 13 and a half years old in September 2025.
On 31st March, Aiste and Chris met several Akitas in need at kennels and took Rocky home on foster. Needless to say, they have become “failed fosterers” and Rocky is now Rocky Cory for the rest of his days, which by the way are going to be full of adventure and love, just like Kira’s.
See you in the next ARW Calendar Rocky!!!!
The kennel staff and volunteers that walked you will never forget you.
